Indication for test
This scan looks at the comparative function of the kidneys in the presence of scarring or lesion.
What does the test involve?
The test is performed in two parts the first part involves an injection.
A scan is performed 4 hours later for a period of 30 mins to 1 hour.
Is there any preparation?
There is no preparation for this scan. It is however, advisable to drink plenty of fluids and urinate frequently to improve the image quality and minimise your radiation dose.
What are the side effects?
There are no side effects from this test. You will be giving off a small dose of radiation so it is advisable to limit your time in close proximity to pregnant women and children for 12 hours following the procedure.
